Amazon Launches Free Video Streaming Service in India. The company has debuted an ad-supported, free video streaming service known as the “MiniTV” within the Amazon India app and it is completely free.
Amazon has mentioned that the Video Streaming service, which is the MiniTV is only available to those using it in India.
The new video streaming service, MiniTV is a totally different offering than its Amazon Prime Video service. The reason is that the MiniTV is contained within the traditional shopping app of Amazon, instead of its own individual app.
MiniTv, the free video streaming service is available only to users in India and its catalog includes older content which its content partners created normally for YouTube and other platforms. And its lineup includes:
- Tech news
- Beauty and Fashion contents.
- Cooking shows.
Also, Amazon’s partners for the channel include:
- List of popular Indian comedians.
- Indian web content studios Pocket Aces and TVF.
Amazon Said it is Planning on the New and Exclusive Videos
The company also mentioned it is making plans on the new and exclusive videos in the upcoming months. However, it didn’t provide any timetable.
TechCrunch notes that the channel should serve as a rival to Flipkart Video. And Flipkart is the free streaming service debuted by Walmart-owned Flipkart in the year 2019. Walmart-owned Flipkart is one of the biggest rivals of Amazon in India.
Still, the company is Advertising its Prime Video to consumers in India as it challenges Netflix. And the company has some plans to debut more than 36 new movies and shows this year in India.
In all, the free MiniTV will also assist Amazon in testing if streaming content can actually drive sales on its shopping app.
